Destination Campaigns

Spanning six to twelve months, depending on the number of film sequels and the publishing frequency, my destination campaigns combine the power of visual storytelling and narratives, gradually revealing the natural beauty and cultural and spiritual heritage of your region to ultimately provide a captivating 360° view of your destination. Published on your website and distributed through your social media channels, the campaign will spellbind travelers across the globe, fueling their desire to experience your country firsthand.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The development of a Destination Campaign begins with extensive research. Familiarizing myself with the destination's highlights and the country's cultural and spiritual heritage, I look for the most compelling themes in terms of both, content and cinematic potential, while contemplating the ideal campaign structure, trying to find unique angles and discover the red thread that could tie the individual episodes together.

A two-weeks long FAM trip conceptualized in part as a sensory immersion experience and a scouting opportunity will include a series of brainstorming sessions with your marketing team during which we jointly develop the overall blueprint for your Destination Campaign, and draft a preliminary itinerary for the first filming trip.

As the role of a local assistant who will act throughout all filming trips as an interpreter and adviser on culturally sensitive conduct is crucial, I like to use the FAM trip also to interview suitable candidates.

POST-PRODUCTION

The post-production work is carried out back at my creative agency in Malaysia. The creation of each film episode involves the following steps:

Organisation & filing of footage, selection of most compelling shots, sourcing of soundtracks, assembly, rough cut, story finding & plot arc, rhythmical pacing, extensive editing work, color grading, ambient sound & foley, and thumbnail design.

The post-production time varies depending on the desired length of sequels. As a general estimate, a short film of 4-5 minutes along with the post-production of still hero-shots requires approximately three weeks to be completed.

The narrative work usually includes a captivating episode synopsis & social media narratives. A collection of short stories that capture my discovery journey throughout your country can be a lovely addition to your blog.

Time requirements depend on the overall scope of narrative work and on the desired length of individual blog posts.

FILMING TRIPS

The frequency of my filming trips is arranged according to your preferences. We can schedule an individual trip for each episode or plan a longer stay that will allow me to collect material for two or three episodes during a single visit.

In general, 7-10 days are needed to capture material for one sequel. The exact time depends on the predictability of weather, the distance between shooting locations, the accessibility of particular areas and the estimated ease of filming. Productions that include wildlife shots demand understandably more time as nature is unpredictable and planning possible only to a limited extent.

As opposed to large-scale productions that require a crew, complex arrangements, and an elaborate set-up, the deployed observational documentary shooting style is defined by minimalism. While you will need to obtain all necessary filming permits and arrange access to potentially restricted areas, no other special arrangements on your part are needed.

Accompanied only by my local assistant, armed with essential equipment, and not attempting to modify the surroundings or to influence the natural course of events, I attract hardly any attention. The everyday life of residents and the holiday experience of visiting travelers is therefore not disrupted in any way.

COST

The strategic location of my agency in the very heart of Southeast Asia ensures low travel costs. As I only engage a single local assistant, with all filming and editing work carried out by me personally, I am able to keep the production cost down which is reflected in the competitive pricing of my Destination Campaigns.

The specific cost of a campaign depends on the number of episodes your series comprise, the desired length of the sequels as well as the scope of the narrative work we agree upon. A custom proposal is provided as soon as these variables are specified.

Travel expenses, accommodation, inland transportation, per diem allowance, admission fees, filming permits and any other expenses directly related to the film production are paid by the client.
